Connect Mech - Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Connect Mech website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account, downloading our app, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. What Connect Mech provides
Connect Mech operates a technology platform that connects vehicle owners and drivers ("Customers") with independent mechanics and service providers ("Mechanics"). We facilitate discovery, matching, messaging, scheduling context, and payment processing—we do not employ Mechanics and we do not perform repairs ourselves. Any work performed is a direct service relationship between the Customer and the Mechanic.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account secure.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Mechanics must complete our verification process before accepting paid jobs through the platform.
4. How the Services work
Typical use of the platform includes:
- Customers submit a service request describing their vehicle issue, location, and urgency.
- Mechanics who are verified and available may view and accept suitable requests.
- Parties may communicate in-app regarding the job.
- The Mechanic travels to (or meets at) the location and performs agreed roadside or on-site assistance.
- Upon completion, the Mechanic records work performed and final costs in the app; payment for the actual work is agreed and settled directly between you and the Mechanic outside the platform. The service request fee is covered by our Refund Policy.
5. Fees, charges, and payments
Pricing is shown in Nigerian Naira (NGN) unless stated otherwise. There is no subscription fee to use the app. Charges may include:
- Service request fee: A one-time, non-refundable fee displayed at checkout when you submit a service request. This fee is set per service category and is required to publish your request to nearby Mechanics. Payment is processed via our payment partner (Paystack).
- Payment for completed work (off-platform): The amount for labour, parts, and related work is agreed between the Customer and the Mechanic and paid directly between them (for example, cash or bank transfer). Connect Mech does not process or hold these payments.
- Wallet and withdrawals (mechanics): Where offered, Mechanics may use in-app wallet and withdrawal features subject to separate processing rules and third-party fees where applicable.
You authorize us and our payment processors to charge payment methods you provide for the service request fee and other amounts processed through the platform. Failed or disputed charges may result in suspension of access to paid features.
6. Customer responsibilities
- Provide truthful vehicle and location information.
- Remain in a safe location when waiting for assistance and follow applicable traffic and safety laws.
- Pay applicable fees and cooperate reasonably during service.
- Report issues promptly through in-app support or tickets.
7. Mechanic responsibilities
- Maintain valid credentials, licenses, and insurance as required by local law.
- Perform services professionally and in line with accepted industry standards.
- Keep availability and profile information accurate.
- Comply with tax and regulatory obligations for income earned through the platform.
8. Reviews and content
Users may submit ratings and reviews. You grant us a license to use, display, and moderate content you submit. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law. Opinions in reviews are those of users, not Connect Mech.
9. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.
- Circumvent platform fees by arranging off-platform payment for jobs originated on Connect Mech.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
- Interfere with the security or operation of the Services.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT A MECHANIC WILL ACCEPT YOUR REQUEST, ARRIVE BY A SPECIFIC TIME, OR RESOLVE EVERY VEHICLE ISSUE. MECHANICS ARE INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTIES; WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTS OR OMISSIONS EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Connect Mech AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE THOUSAND NGN (₦1,000), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or for operational, legal, or safety reasons. You may request account or data deletion via our deletion request form.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes may be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
14. Governing law and contact
